Parenting Challenged Children
Carol Stock Kranowitz is an educator and author of “The Out-of-Sync Child” and “The Out-of-Sync Child Has Fun”. She is a leader in understanding sensory processing disorder in children. She has practical ideas to help these children manage their behavior and process the sensory overload they experience daily. Parents, caregivers and teachers will find useful solutions to daily problems in this class.

Childhood Nutrition and Literacy
Dr. Clint Field is a clinical psychologist helping children with behavior problems, anxiety, fears, ADHD, toileting issues, and management of emotional issues relating to obesity, diabetes and asthma. Rebecca Turley of the Utah Parent Center
Rebecca is a Parent Consultant and Trainer for the Utah Parent Center. She enjoys serving parents who have children with disabilities and helping them find the resources they need to be successful. As a trainer for the UPC she presents workshops on a variety of topics to both parents and professionals. Rebecca is currently the statewide volunteer coordinator for the UPC and currently facilitates the IEP Coach program. She serves on several committees including the Utah Special Education Advisory Panel and the UPIPS Committee. Rebecca is married with two children and has a 15 year old daughter with several severe disabilities.
She will present on stress and what to do about it!!! We will explore some things that "Make us crazy" and the unique stressors related to living with a child with a disability (or working in the field) . Learn and practice some techniques to help you deal with the stress. This is an interactive session.
Gifts and Challenges Having a Child with Special needs in your family
FOR PARENTS: Having a child with special needs is a wonderful experience that many of us did not anticipate. We find ourselves experiencing a different life from what we expected. Join us to explore some of the unique “gifts and challenges” that are ours. Participants will get and give wonderful ideas for recognizing and appreciating gifts, managing the challenges, understanding and coping with feelings, recognizing how our emotions impact our interactions with professionals, and much more!
FOR EDUCATORS/PROFESSIONALS: Professionals will gain insight and understanding of the experiences parents of children with disabilities. Join us to explore some of the unique "gifts" that families receive and "challenges" that families face. Participants will get and give wonderful ideas for recognizing and appreciating gifts, managing the challenges, understanding and coping with feelings, recognizing how parents emotions impact their interactions with professionals, and much more!
